You know it’s one of those days…
I’m not in a happy mood right now. I have a project to complete by september. Not so bad, ecept I have to take almost the entire month of august out in order to go to my brother’s wedding in paraguay. In itself this is a good thing, as it means I get to visit another foreign country and eat lots of barbeque beef and… a weird root thing that they use instead of bread. But it’s also a bad thing, because it leaves me with just June and July to complete the project. And, to top it all, my project computer died a rather unspectacular death yesterday.
As far as I cen tell the motherboard is busted, but whether the cpu is gone as well is difficult to know. I could risk purchasing a new mobo and see if that saves me but I have to question whether this is really a risk worth taking. Or I could just buy a new computer. This is what I’m doing, since I’ve been meaning to upgrade that one for a while. It’s set me back a week, though, since I’ve not had any cash.
Anyway, I’m futureproofing it. I’m going for an AM2 socket motherboard and a cheaop AM2 sempron, so I can upgrade it later. Dual PCI-E slots, and the motherboard insists that it’s SLI ready which confuses me a teeny bit, but no matter. Once I have the cash I’ll upgrade to a dual core, or quad if they’re out by then. Athlon for the cache. Woot. Also a GF6600…
