Distillation is a favourite topic of mine. It’s the method whereby the drink of the gods (aka dalwhinnie 18 year single malt whisky) is produced, or at least part of it. Or something. But that has nothing to do with this particular post, except obliquely by the amount of the stuff I’ve drunk over the last few days trying to figure out how best to phrase this. And that’s not good, because it’s hard to enjoy a fine single malt when you’re stressed over projects and unable to let go of a thought…
Recently, on several posts over at Gates of Vienna I’ve been having an on-again/off-again argument with one or two commenters on the subject of whether America should involve itself in our troubles. On the surface, I have to admit, I can sympathise with their position, and in most circumstances I’d agree that the US would be entirely justified in sitting this one out. We (I hate to do it, but for the purposes of this post I’m referring to the continent and the Isles as a single collective entity) have a problem.
