One is not superior merely because one sees the world as odious. -- Chateaubriand (1768-1848)

Thoughts on the election

You know of which I speak.

I have but one. Yesterday I was breifly optimistic, as the democrat majority was much lower than previous majorities at this part of the election cycle. However, I have had more time to think about it. The next two years signal a dark time, not just for the US, but for the world. We face a growing threat of violence that will now no longer be countered by the already rather lack-lustre response of the United States, an enemy empowered by the appearance of weakness on the part of the US and a bunch of facile, venal, cowardly rulers on both sides of the atlantic crowing over how superior and cosmopolitan they are, darling.

In short, we’re boned. For the net two years, I will be praying every day for deliverance. I can only pray something good comes of this.

    The jabberwock Says:

I fear deliverance for Christians on this side of the Atlantic may only come in the form of death, either natural (Psalm 116:14-16, Prov 13:32) or through suffering and quite probably martyrdom (Hebrews 11:35-38). For the non-Christian, however, there will be no such escape, even in death.

It may sound morbid, but I believe that our country has since the 1960s (I was born in 1962 by the way) gone from one that lived under God’s grace to one that is now under God’s righteous Judgment. Having turned our backs on His laws (Romans 1:18-32) and moved to a State founded almost exclusively on Humanist values that are completely antithetical to the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount, we are now suffering the consequences of our own (and our leaders’) sinful actions.

I believe He has allowed the rise of the twin evils of militant secularism and militant Islam as both a punishment on our nation and to purify the Church - to separate true believers from those who profess Christ but do not know Him.

Those of us who (like myself) are lukewarm in our loyalty or obedience are being driven inexorably towards the decision that will determine our lives and our eternal destiny: either to follow Christ wholeheartedly and be prepared to suffer the very probable loss of our livelihoods and homes, and quite possibly our families and even lives, or turn our backs on Christ completely.

But be of good cheer, for “…we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. … No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom 8:28-30, 37-39)
