Just an fyi, the flats are coming along quite nicely, though there’s been a couple of difficulties – for example, some scamp climbed the scaffolding and ran al over the roof, breaking about a dozen tiles. They were apparently after the lead but fortunately it’s well nailed down, not worth the hassle for them

In the UK, the sale of alcohol is liberally licensed, the stuff is cheap and we’ve always had a reputation for being heavy drinkers. On the other hand, fireworks are becoming increasingly hard to purchase “for the sake of the children” or some such rot.
